Now and Forever

Hi Everyone!

Today, I have a card for The Card Concept Challenge #66.  I decided to do a little something different this time and use watercolors.  The theme for the challenge was "love and romance" with this inspiration photo :

I tried to capture all the basic colors in the photo for my layered CAS card.  I have a tone on tone background using Soft Stone Cardstock and ink from Papertrey Ink.  All of my stamps are from Paper Smooches.

I really wanted to use the large floral stamp as my focal point, but I felt like stamping it with black ink and coloring it in would not create the soft look I was going for from the photo.

I decided to heat emboss it instead with white embossing powder, then paint over it with watercolors.    I have this mixed media sketchbook that I keep all my color swatches in.  It has been so useful when I'm trying to find the perfect color for a project.   I also like to keep stamped images with Copic colors I used in here as a reference.

I found the perfect pinks for my flower from my Artist's Loft Pearlescent watercolors.  I didn't even need to use watercolor paper.  White cardstock from Papertrey Ink worked perfectly.  I like how the flowers curled a little bit after they dried

Wedding Card set

Hello!

I wanted to share a couple of shower/wedding cards I had made for a friend recently using Fashion Sense from Papertrey Ink.  It was a special edition set for Stamp-A-Faire 2015 and it's been one that I turn to a lot.  The dress on the lady is so versatile.  You can paper piece it, color it in with Copics or Wink of Stella or heat emboss it.  It's great for creating simple, sophisticated cards.

For this first card, I layered a piece of patterned vellum over a light pink notecard.  On top of that, I added a gray panel at an angle and colored the edges with a Spectrum Noir sparkle pen.  I used a Versamark pen to color in the dress, then heat embossed it using Judikins Iridescent Sparkle embossing powder.  It added a beautiful shimmer to the wedding dress--not too glittery.

For my second card, I used the arch from the Gatsby Glamour stamp set and did some masking with the Fashion Sense stamp set.

First, I stamped the lady from Fashion Sense onto a white panel.  Then, I stamped her again on wide Post-It tape, cut her out, and placed her over the stamped image. I stamped the arch from Gatsby Glamour over the masked image with Versamark ink, peeled the mask off, then embossed the arch with silver embossing powder.

Masking

I used the same heat embossing technique for the dress as the first card and added my own "aisle" with a Copic multiliner.  The sentiment is one from Mama Elephant's Bountiful Blessings.  I thought it fit nicely within the arch with a little masking to the sides.

To complete the set, I lined some envelopes with paper from the Sweet Blush patterned paper pack .

These cards were a lot of fun to put together.  I plan to add cards similar to these in my Etsy shop so be sure to check back soon.  Thanks for joining me today!
