Valentine's Day

Kat Scrappiness Design Team Project: Happy Heart Day!

Hi Everyone!

Today I have a card featuring the versatile Large Alphabet Dies by Kat Scrappiness.

The letters make such a nice focal point, I wanted to attach a few together to make an almost chipboard-like embellishment.  I first adhered black "fun foam" to the backs of 2 Xs and 2 Os.  This not only gives more thickness, but also gives a nice shadow effect.  You could use other colors as well and those would look great too!

I then clustered the Xs and Os together so they fit nicely, adhering them with flat glue dots.  This bold embellishment would be really great on a scrapbook page too!

I've been in love with Lawn Fawn's new How You Bean?-Conversation Hearts Add-On stamp set.  The little hearts are so fun to color with Copics!  This time, I went with bright colors to offset the black and white of the letters.

After laying out my design, I wanted to stamp a few of the open hearts and a sentiment from the Lawn Fawn set directly on my card.  I used my Tim Holtz Tonic Stamp Platform to be sure I got everything straight and close enough together.  For a graphic card like this, being precise is very important for the look.

Copics tend to show through cardstock if you color directly on it, so my remedy for that is cute patterned paper.  I took a strip of paper from Lawn Fawn's Perfectly Plaid Rainbow Petit Paper Pack and added it to the inside of the card where the Copics ran through.  The paper coordinates with the front of the card and adds a cute detail to the inside.

Thanks for joining me today!  I hope you'll try this clustering technique with your letter dies.  It's a fun way to make a bold statement on the front of your card.  All the supplies from the Kat Scrappiness shop are linked below.  Be sure to use my coupon code Heidi10 to receive 10% off your purchase.

Video: Kat Scrappiness Design Team Project-- Color Pop Valentine

Hi Everyone!

Today I have a Valentine's Day card featuring the Kat Scrappiness Wonky Wavy Stitched Square dies and the Double Stitched Heart dies.

I love the look of bright colors against a neutral gray backdrop.  For this card, I still wanted to have a little bit of white peeking out to keep it light, so I cut a notecard from white cardstock and created a 4.25" square card to back the gray cardstock.  All you do is cut a 8.5"x 11" piece of cardstock vertically at 4.5", then horizontally at 9 1/16".  Score at the 4.5" mark and you have a square notecard.  I show this in the video below too.

I created a little heart shaker for some sparkly interest with Kat's Rock Candy Sequin Mix and added some Nuvo Drops to highlight the sentiment.

I have a video below showing how I put this card together.  I also have all the supplies I used from the Kat Scrappiness shop linked below.  Be sure to use my code: Heidi10 to receive 10% off your order.  Thanks for joining me today!

More Chocolate Lover's Card Kit Projects

Hi Everyone!

I have a few more cards from the Kat Scrappiness Chocolate Lover's Card Kit to show you today, along with a video.  Unfortunately, the kit is sold out, but good news--the Layered Chocolate Bar stamp set and the "Sweet" sentiment die will be available for purchase separately in the shop very soon.  I've had so much fun working with this kit!    You can see my previous projects here and here.

I stamped 4 of the chocolate bars for this card (no wrappers) and cut out the little squares.  I got about 4 squares from each bar and I love the way this turned out.

I attached the glitter washi tape from the kit to a strip of cardstock to line the bottom of the card.  The gold on that tape is just a perfect shade of shimmery goodness!

For this card, I added a shaker element using the negative cut of the word die.

I put a strip of white cardstock where I poured the sequins so they would stand out underneath.

I used a Copic marker to change the color of the wood hearts.  These were one of my favorite embellishments in the kit.  The little hearts are such a nice shape.

Can you tell I like the Wonky Wavy Stitched Heart die?  I cut a bunch of the smallest heart from the berry colored cardstock that came with the kit to highlight one of the die cuts.

I decided to create an old fashioned valentine with the largest Wonky Wavy Stitched Heart die.

I shaped the card by placing the die cut a little over and a little under the folded part of a pink notecard to create the seam.

I decorated the inside with a die cut from the pack included in the kit.

For this card, I used a the gingham heart that was left from a previous project and popped it up with fun foam.  Another heart from the die cut pack fit perfectly inside.

Finally, I did a fun interactive card for a gift.

You can use the chocolate bar to slide the panel open to reveal the gift card.  I also added a little die cut tab on the other side for another way to slide it.

I have a video below showing you how I put this card together.  Enjoy, and thanks for joining me today!  Feel free to use my coupon code: Heidi10 to take 10% off your purchase in the Kat Scrappiness shop.
