Make It Monday Challenge--Sentiment Windows

Hi Everyone!

I'm playing along with this week's Make It Monday Challenge over at Papertrey Ink.

My big box of Christmas stamps is down from my shelf and waiting to be used.  I actually keep all my holiday and winter themed stamps together in an old Papertrey Ink Make It Market box.  It fits everything perfectly.  I keep it out of the way during the year, but come October, it comes down for all my holiday projects.  Papertrey Ink has some of my favorite Christmas stamps so I was ready for this week's challenge.

We had to make a sentiment window opening on our card with the sentiment featured on the inside.  I recently got the new Vintage Holiday magazine and was inspired with so many ideas.  I love the retro Christmas colors and decorations from the 1950s and 60s and love making projects with this theme in mind.

This is the card I created for the challenge:

I covered the front of a vertical white notecard with some patterned paper and cut a window using Papertrey Ink's Shaker Shapes Circle die.  To stamp the sentiment inside, I used Papertrey's Christmas Cheer stamp set--it's has some great "retro" looking scripty sentiments.

Stamping Tip:

To stamp the sentiment, I used my Tim Holtz Tonic Stamp Platform.  I also have a Misti, but for cards that are differently shaped like this one (vertical opening), I like this tool.  It does not have a "lip" around the edge, so you can stamp large cards or scrapbook pages easily.  I do love my Misti though, for it's compactness, so I think both are useful.

I used the Vintage Ornaments and Additions stamp set from Papertrey Ink--a huge favorite of mine.  I believe this set is retired, but they do have another similar set called Vintage Ornaments II that is available.  To add some shimmer, I heat embossed some of the patterns on the ornaments with glittered embossing powder.

I made an additional card using the same Copics I used in my first project.  I did some simple masking of flowers from Mudra's Linen Blooms and colored those in.  Then, I backed my floral panel with a square cut from one of the Kat Scrappiness Cross-Stitched square dies.  I love that little bit of unexpected detail and texture it gives.  I embossed the card base with an embossing folder from We R Memory Keepers called Woven.

Easter Wishes--Inspired By All the Little Things Challenge

Hi Everyone!

I'm back with a card for the Inspired by All the Little Things challenge.

Here is the inspiration:

Here's my card:

I didn't have any little chick stamps, so I decided to pull in the colors from the inspiration photo as well as the Easter theme.  I wanted to make some decorated eggs that were embossed.  Kind of like those huge ones you can buy at a gift shop.

IMG_4167

I wanted to do orange embossing on the eggs to pull in the the chicks' beak color, but I was having a hard time getting the orange right.  I tried orange embossing powder, but it didn't have the brightness I wanted.  You can see it on the eggs on the right.

I ended up trying a technique I learned from Jennifer McGuire which is great if you can't find that perfect color of embossing powder--use clear embossing powder over your favorite pigment ink.  In this case, I used Memento Luxe pigment ink in Morocco to stamp my images, then I sprinkled some clear embossing powder over them and heat embossed.  The final eggs are on the left.  I like that shade of orange better.

IMG_4165

I used my new 4 bar scalloped notecard die from Papertrey Ink for the card base.  Perfect for a cute little Easter greeting!

IMG_4169

Thanks for joining me today.  My supplies are linked below, however, I was unable to find links for the egg die I used or the bow and greeting.  All are from older My Favorite Things sets.

Sending Good Vibes

Hi Everyone!

Today,  I have a card I am entering in a few challenges.  For those of you wishing for winter to be over, this may be one for you!  I used the current Color Throwdown Challenge colors as my inspiration.  I am also participating in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge as well as the current CASology Challenge.

Goodvies4

I took a pink, mint and aqua ink from My Favorite Things along with my Jumbo Sponge Dauber and blended the colors for my background onto a card panel.   I've had this Coastal stamp set from Inkadinkado and have never used it.  I love the retro style!

Good vibes 1

For the images, I had the best luck using this Hero Arts Black Dye Ink.  It gave a smooth stamp image with no splotchiness.  My Misti was a huge help too!

Goodvibes3

I needed a small word to go with the "good vibes" sentiment, so I just cut apart one of the words  from my Simon Says Stamp Prayers stamp set to get the little "sending".

Good vibes2

Thanks for joining me today.  Have a great weekend!

Smile--It's Your Birthday!

Hi Everyone!

I'm playing along with this week's Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge where the theme is winter birthday.  I used a cute little stamp set from Lawn Fawn along with their stitched snowflake dies heat embossed with my favorite Judikins powder to create my card.  The card is 4 bar size--3 1/2 x 4 7/8".

  Lawn fawn cake 1

Lawn fawn 3

In order to create dimension with my snowflake, I adhered about six of the dies together with glue.  To give the stack some interest, I included some dies cut out with pink and purple cardstock.  It creates a little bit of a shadow that coordinates with sparkly embossing powder and the sequins.

 Thanks for stopping by!

Warm Wishes

Hi Everyone! I'm here with an entry to the Lawnscaping Challenge as well as the 2016 Winter Coffee Lover's Blog Hop. .  Lawn Fawn has the cutest little food and drink stamps and I'm still loving their new plaid paper line.  I used the Perfectly Plaid Winter 6x6 pad to make the little strips.  I was trying to get that "frosty" winter look with the glitter paper and the snowflakes.  I raised the strips and the little coffee and donut up on foam tape to give the card some more dimension. warm wishes use this.JPG Thanks for joining me--have a great day!
