Kat Scrappiness Design Team Project: Peace on Earth

Hi Everyone!  I'm here with a card featuring the Pine Tree Border Die by Kat Scrappiness.

I started off with cutting the pine trees from white cardstock.

I added some shimmer by pressing the die cut into some Versamark Ink.......

...then heat embossing it with shimmery Holographic Embossing Powder from Ranger.

Next, I stamped the a sentiment from Avery Elle's Snowflakes stamp set in Versamark Ink just above where I planned to put the tree line.

I heat embossed that in white embossing powder.

For the stars, I used Carta Bella's Christmas Sky Stencil and pressed a Versamark Ink pad onto the card front being sure to not go over the sentiment with the ink.  I then heat embossed that with some more holographic embossing powder.

I created a blended galaxy sky using Distress Inks and wiped the excess from the embossing with a paper towel.

I attached the trees with some thin strips of foam tape along the bottom of the card.

Some glimmery sequins from Kat's Snowflakes Kisses II sequin mix completed the card.

Hi Everyone!  I'm here with a fun project using the Naughty Christmas stamp and die set and the Design a Gingerbread Man die.

How cute is this little guy?  It's amazing how well the Nuvo drops worked as "frosting" for the cookie.

Here's a closer look.....

I have a video below showing how I created this fun card.  Supplies are linked below and can be found at the Kat Scrappiness shop.  Thanks for joining me!

Make It Monday Challenge--Sentiment Windows

Hi Everyone!

I'm playing along with this week's Make It Monday Challenge over at Papertrey Ink.

My big box of Christmas stamps is down from my shelf and waiting to be used.  I actually keep all my holiday and winter themed stamps together in an old Papertrey Ink Make It Market box.  It fits everything perfectly.  I keep it out of the way during the year, but come October, it comes down for all my holiday projects.  Papertrey Ink has some of my favorite Christmas stamps so I was ready for this week's challenge.

IMG_6835

We had to make a sentiment window opening on our card with the sentiment featured on the inside.  I recently got the new Vintage Holiday magazine and was inspired with so many ideas.  I love the retro Christmas colors and decorations from the 1950s and 60s and love making projects with this theme in mind.

  IMG_6848

This is the card I created for the challenge:

  IMG_6846

I covered the front of a vertical white notecard with some patterned paper and cut a window using Papertrey Ink's Shaker Shapes Circle die.  To stamp the sentiment inside, I used Papertrey's Christmas Cheer stamp set--it's has some great "retro" looking scripty sentiments.

Stamping Tip:

To stamp the sentiment, I used my Tim Holtz Tonic Stamp Platform.  I also have a Misti, but for cards that are differently shaped like this one (vertical opening), I like this tool.  It does not have a "lip" around the edge, so you can stamp large cards or scrapbook pages easily.  I do love my Misti though, for it's compactness, so I think both are useful.

  IMG_6833

I used the Vintage Ornaments and Additions stamp set from Papertrey Ink--a huge favorite of mine.  I believe this set is retired, but they do have another similar set called Vintage Ornaments II that is available.  To add some shimmer, I heat embossed some of the patterns on the ornaments with glittered embossing powder.

Make It Sparkle

Hi Everyone! Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge theme this week is Make it Sparkle.   I have wanted to use this great geometric Christmas stamp from Hero Arts for awhile now.  This is a set you could use year round, I think. simon-1

First, I heat embossed the sentiment and one of the ornaments on black cardstock with Zing Metallic Silver embossing powder.  For a pop of color, I heat embossed the other ornaments and cut them out of teal and pink cardstock.  Of course, I had to break out the glitter paper again for the background.

I really love that paper pad! simon 2.JPG

Lawnscaping Challenge: Merry Christmas

Hi Everyone, I'm back with a card for the final Lawnscaping Challenge.   Many thanks to the wonderful ladies that have put on this challenge for the last five years!  This week, the theme is Christmas/holidays.

Here's my card:

lawnscaping-1

I used the retired Ornate Ornaments stamp from Lawn Fawn--such cute retro ornaments!  Paper piecing is something I've never tried before, so I thought I'd do a little for this project.  I did it super simply using Lawn Fawn's Perfectly Plaid Christmas 6x6 pad.  I also added copic coloring and rhinestones to the ornament bands. To finish, I covered a notecard with some Let's Polka in the Meadow patterned paper and added my panel with some foam tape. lawnscaping use this.JPG Thanks for joining me, have a great day!

CAS(E) this Sketch #200: Merry Christmas

Hi Everyone! The CAS(E) this Sketch challenge blog is celebrating it's 200th sketch this week.  Congratulations! cts_200 I decided to play along and here's the card I created: case this sketch.JPG For the sentiment, I stamped it on white card stock, then cut it out by hand just following the star path.  The star pattern is a wood mounted stamp that I stamped twice going down the card.  My Stamp-a-ma-jig came in handy for lining up the stamping perfectly.  This is the first time I ever used this tool and I love it!  Pretty simple, but I think the colors really make it pop.  My supplies are listed below (the star stamp is by Craft Smart, but I could not find a name or link for it.). Thanks for stopping by! SUPPLIES:

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday Challenge: Double-Layer Tags

Hi Everyone! Today, I'm featuring a tag I made for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday Challenge.  This week's challenge was to make a double layer tag using Dawn McVey's gorgeous inspiration:

DSC_7870.1                       This thermos stamp set is definitely on my wish list! Here's what I came up with: pti-last

I recently purchased these colorful Diamond Toppings and wanted to try them out. queen-and-co

I started out by die cutting the Tag Sale #8 main tag from some green glitter cardstock.  I love this cardstock and use it all the time.  The glitter is almost embedded in the paper so it doesn't rub off.  The colors are so pretty too.  I save every scrap! :) pti-tag-1 Then, I took the other part of the die set and cut a window into the first tag. pti-2 tag3 I did the same thing with some adhesive foam and adhered that window to another Tag Sale #8 tag I had die cut with white cardstock and stamped with a sentiment. tag5 I attached the assembled tag with foam onto a Basic Bookmarks die cut and filled the window opening with those colorful Diamond Toppings. pti6 I lightly traced the tag tag shape onto some clear cardstock and attached it to the underside of the green glitter window tag. tag-6 Then I placed the window over the adhesive foam and added another sentiment to the bottom of the tag.  Some red rhinestones and gingham ribbon finished it off.  I ended up changing the larger tag on the bottom from patterned to white because it felt too busy. pti-tag Thanks for joining me today! What ' s New in the Shop-December

marcaroon ornaments.JPG

With just a couple days before December, I thought I'd show some recent holiday creations I've added to my Etsy shop. I was so thrilled to have sold out of the first set of red shaker tags, I decided to make more. I think they are so festive and perfect for those simple white

packages.  For these tags, I was excited to use my new sequins I bought from the most recent Neat and Tangled release.  They're a mix of Peppermint Stick and Frosted Pine.   For traditional Christmas colors, I like a really bright red and green and these sequins were perfect against the white background of

the tags.

This card set has

a little bit of a retro feel to it.  Plus, it has these adorable lined envelopes--so fun to make!
