Papertrey Ink is having their Create Along With Us Release Week Challenge going on right now. This is where you can choose a card or technique that has inspired you from one of the design team members and make your own version. I saw a simple watercoloring technique from Nichole , that is so pretty, I wanted to give it a try. She heat embossed a flower with white onto colored cardstock and then added some quick shading with with Zig brush markers and water. You get the look of a lot of dimension using just a couple of colors with the colored cardstock as a backdrop. Here is her card.
Here is my recreation:
This was so simple! All I did was take a piece of Winter Wisteria cardstock and heat emboss the Violet from Year of Flowers: Violets with white embossing powder. I added a wash of water over the image and used my Zig brush marker in Violet to add shadowing to the edges and blended with a little more water. I adhered the panel to a white notecard and trimmed it at an angle. Then, I added a sentiment I heat embossed with Versafine Onyx ink and clear embossing powder onto some vellum and that's it. A very easy technique with watercolor that's almost foolproof!
