Using Scrapbooking Supplies for Cards--Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams

Hi Everyone!

Like a lot of  cardmakers, I like to dabble in other types of crafting.  I'm not a huge DIY-er, but I do love scrapbooking and have plenty of supplies to last me quite awhile.  A couple of my favorite scrapbook bloggers are Victoria Marie and Crafty Jen Schow.  Their YouTube videos are so well crafted and I would say they are experts in the art of embellishment layering.  Their techniques have not only come in handy for my scrapbooking, but they've also helped me with the ability to put a card together using scrapbook supplies.  I love using my scrapbook stash for making cards.   The ready-made embellishments and papers add great color and texture when you're in a hurry and maybe don't have time to break out the Misti and your ink pads.  Plus, it's a great way to get more out of your purchases!

For the current Fusion card challenge,  I chose to work with just the sketch this time and I broke out my scrapbooking supplies to do it.  Normally, I'm a CAS cardmaker, but every once in awhile I like to add layers and have some fun with more embellishment.

I immediately thought of my Maggie Holmes collection.  I love the Chasing Dreams product line--the fresh colors and floral accents are perfect for layering.  I used paper from the 6x6 pad as well as a few die cuts from the ephemera pack.  I also was thinking I wanted to layer an embossed strip using my We R Memory Keepers Woven embossing folder to kind of tie everything in.

Here's what I came up with:

Fusion 1

I really like how this turned out with the soft blues and peachy pink colors.  Lots of layers and texture!  For the sentiment, I used the Thanks Script die from Mama Elephant.  I like how the font compliments the softness of the floral patterns.

If your interested in more about using scrapbook products on cards, I wrote another post about it a few months ago using supplies from Authentique.  You can find it here.

Thanks for joining me today!  I put links below to a few places you can find the products I used.  If you see 2 pictures of the same thing, that just means I put 2 different online stores where you can find it.
